Why should you take responsibility for your own life ask the Social Justice Warriors (SJW’s) who fear guns? They tell us that’s what the police are for: that we pay taxes to government so government has the responsibility to protect us.
Are they correct?
Not at all. The protection of your life begins with you. No one has that responsibility more than you do. Your life is under your control, starting when you are born and take your first actions to stay alive by drinking milk all the way to your last breaths. Your life therefore the protection of yourself is up to you.
No one has that positive responsibility and that’s the moral basis of why you need a gun.
To repeat: self-responsibility is the first law of nature. Every animal has it but some of the highest animals, — that would be humans, are too dense to accept that. Those who preach that society has a duty to protect each and every person have betrayed their own nature. No 0ne except you has a right to your body therefore no one has a fundamental, moral Right to your body. In addition to being a fundamental moral and correct Law of Nature, that is the basis for criminal laws that punish people for murder; rape; theft and fraud.
Some people are afraid by their nature. Some women fear men because, generally, women are smaller and men are larger. A gun is a size leveler. A woman with a gun is safer than a woman without one. Reason would tell women they should get a gun. But guns make loud noises and some people are afraid of loud noises. Guns kill people and some people, not military people for example, don’t want to have to kill people.
But guns don’t even make noise on their own. That’s in their nature.
A gun fires a bullet but before that can happen the bullet must be inserted into the gun. A bullet is powered by high pressure gas. The high pressure gas is a consequence generated by igniting gun powder which generates gas in a closed container, a cartridge, that must develop enough pressure to overcome the pressure of the case that’s holding the bullet in it. The fire is started by a pressure generating chemical that can be ignited by a sharp blow which happens when a “firing pin” is propelled into the primer after the firing pin releases the energy contained in the springs by a mechanism connected to a trigger that is put into motion to strike the firing pin that strikes the primer that ignites the gunpowder that develops the gas that pushes the bullet out of the cartridge into the barrel of a gun and thru the barrel. Whew!
So a gun cannot fire. The cartridge must be fired by a sequence of events that’s usually initiated by a human finger. that’s what’s so great about a gun. It cannot work without a cartridge and a human.
There’s no question about the danger of an inert gun. The cartridge is dangerous only when it’s put into a gun and a human fires it.
REFUSING TO OWN A GUN
That’s refusing to take responsibility for your own life. What rational person would accept that? That’s why anyone who refuses to own a gun needs to be asked: “who is responsible for your own life? That’s why it’s not great at all to refuse to won a gun. It’s a rejection of the natural impulse to live.
Suppose however someone is afraid to try to protect themselves. Is it your duty to protect them? Do you, as an individual have the duty to protect other people. No. Your duty to protect someone else would lead to the situation where every one is responsible to protect everyone else even to the point of using their own life to protect the life so someone else. People who accept that are the types who agree with dictators and tyrants and that’s been the sad, bad history of too many cultures.
America is different. Exceptional. America is the first moral country because America places the highest value on your right to protect your life by yourself. That’s not only the basis of America, it’s the basis of a proper set of laws. In addition it’s the only way people can live together in peace and it’s one of the promises made by President Trump when he revealed he supports the American Second Amendment.
