JFK was born 100 years ago this year. Inga was 28 in 1941 when she met the 24 year old Naval Ensign. She was introduced to JFK by Katherine “Kick” Kennedy. She and JFK fell madly and deeply in love. Inga was married to her second husband, Hungarian Pal Fejos (pronounced Fay-Hoesch claims author Scott Farris), in a well researched and well written book “INGA”.
But their’s was a star-crossed love like Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.
Inga was Danish and bewitchingly beautiful. A beauty queen, she was first told she was beautiful when she was 4.
Inga was suspected by J. Edgar Hoover and FDR of being one of Hitlers spies so they followed her. The FBI file is 1,200 pages. Joseph Patrick Kennedy Senior didn’t like her so he had her followed too. So did her husband. So did the Office of Naval Intelligence, the ONI. The spies were literally bumping into each other as they broke into her apartment, interviewed her neighbors, and broke too many laws to count while they followed her without warrants. Of course when FDR wanted someone followed, they were followed.
The Navy transferred JFK to South Carolina to get him away from Inga. They lost track of Inga. Turned out she went to South Carolina to be with Jack so the Navy sent Jack to the South Pacific. That stopped the lovers.
Eventually JFK married a different beauty, Jacqueline Lee Bouvier. They had two children. Inga married for a third time to Hollywood cowboy Tim McCoy. They had two boys. For awhile they lived at Dolington Manor aka the Benjamin Taylor Homestead in Lower Makefield, Bucks County, PA. To the end of their lives Jack and Inga stayed in love with each other.
JFK and Inga prove that sometimes life doesn’t work out the best way.
