June 26, 2026 was another day of record breaking heat across Europe where the lack of air conditioning caused heat related health problems that were often fatal. Europe is typically not that hot during the summer so air conditioning wasn’t usually needed. That recently changed but since most European buildings were built to retain expensive heat during the winter they recently became far too hot in the summer so Europeans are buying room air conditioners. Unfortunately some people put the air conditioner in a window but they do not seal the openings around the air conditioner so the cold air enters the room from the air conditioner along with hot air from the unsealed openings and the heat inside continues.
