To ask that is to admit ignorance of Africa, a great and vast continent that includes especially ancient and modern Egypt, sophisticated Casablanca, Cote d’Ivore – the Ivory Coast, Mount Kilimanjaro, Cairo, the Pyramids, Capetown, Johannesburg, Algiers, the Sahara desert, Mogadishu,  Tripoli, Nairobi, Dar Es Salaam, Tunisia, and modern South Africa which does include not only the Zulu’s but also the Xhosa, the Ndebele, the Swazi, the San and many, many other cultures that existed in South Africa while Columbus was busy sailing around the Caribbean.

It was in very ancient Greece that Democracy lifted it’s head. Constitutional government probably began with the Magna Carta in England  in 1215 which separated the Church and hence religion from the political authority of government. Civilian control of the military is also a recent achievement and it was a concern of the Founders of America who were suspicious of standing militaries.  Greece had bards, poets and philosophers.

None of that was visible or practiced in Africa including Egypt but use caution when interpreting history to undergird your theory about cultures lest you be led astray. Africa is a vast place, over three times as large as America. The climate is very kind and peaceful so there is little use for great buildings insulated from excessive heat or freezing cold. Most of Africa simply does not freeze. And just about everything grows there is such profusion that digging around and planting seeds and roots isn’t necessary. When life is good it is easy to live. There is little incentive beyond eating, loving and living. So, …. before you reference Africa, educate your good self about it.
