Most pregnancies run to completion so beautiful children are born naturally. Sometimes something goes wrong and a spontaneous abortion happens. That’s how nature or God works. So.. If nature/God can perform an abortion, why not use the same process and sort of help nature and God along?
Well… It’s not so simple. First there are scads of eggs and scads of sperm. Out of all that sometimes but not always an egg is fertilized. So nature sort of let’s most eggs and most sperm perish. Even before the beginning of a pregnancy, scads of potential lives never get started. No problem. That’s nature.
Happily, most pregnancies result in birth. Most, … but not all… Things happen and pregnancies go wrong. Nature provides a turnoff and a spontaneous abortion happens.
So.. Most eggs, most sperm don’t work. Those eggs and sperm are released.. aborted if you would. Even before conception, and after conception expecially, far and away, most eggs and most sperm don’t work.
Next, and we have to be very careful here because not only is there an insufficient answer to the question: “when does life begin?” the general knowledge doesn’t seem to know that both the egg and the sperm are alive. It takes life to continue life. There is even the unanswered question: “what is a woman?” A candidate for the U.S. Supreme court couldn’t answer. The Supreme Court nominee who faced questions about defining “woman” was Ketanji Brown Jackson, during her 2022 confirmation hearings, where Senator Marsha Blackburn asked her to define the word, and Jackson replied she couldn’t “in this context” because she’s “not a biologist,” stating she’d address legal disputes as a judge. This exchange became a notable moment, with critics highlighting her inability to give a simple biological definition and supporters defending her stance as appropriate for a judge, focusing on legal interpretation rather than biological definitions. Why she couldn’t answer: a human female,.. is beyond most people but here she is on the Supreme cort. Go figure. But the complications related to abortions have to be addressed and answered in some fashion, hopefully correctly but at the present moment, abortion is still full of unanswerable questions and the government sees fit to be involved with the issue. President Trump just cancelled Roe vs. Wade saying it’s up to the individual States and 13 States have total abortion bans in effect. We’re not there yet.
Sad.
