Rangefinders are a bit smaller and harder to focus. SLR’s are harder to use when deep colored filters are added in front of the lens but the darkening of a polarizer can be seen making the polarizers easier to use with the SLR. The big advantage of a rangefinder is it’s smaller size that makes it easier to carry. Using a rangefinder with an extreme wide angle lens makes quick shooting a breeze but the subject is put much further away. That becomes a special effect. So,… There are obvious advantages with both kinds of cameras and since 35mm has become wonderfully precise it’s great for just about everything… BUT!… Weddings, portraits, fashion demand the best which is medium format. Hasselblad is, for me,… and a load of other photographers, the way to go….Most of the time :-).. I still keep 35mm rangefinders and SLR’s close by especially a Kodak Retina IIIc.
