Racial inequality in the United States today is rooted in longstanding behaviors, beliefs, and public and private policies. Just about everyone agrees with that there are differences between the races. Sure, a lot of the characteristics of people are the same. Doctors can attest to that as they operate on people but there are differences too and some people believe those differences require Affirmative Action to compensate either for past wrongs or present wrongs. The grand assumption is that the races are equal which they are in so many respects yet the differences and the perceptions persist. Why? Why are the races different? The grand answer is: NATURE! People are born and they develop and the differences are noticeable. What should be done about them? Generally, nothing. Specifically, .. it depends on the characteristic at issue. Generally, government needs to step back, keeps it’s interfering hands off of the scale of life and allow nature to continue as nature should. Does that give certain people advantages? Sure. Who would argue that Mike Tyson has natural advantages. Who would want to force Tyson to comply with the average when his advantages are not his doing and his advantages are there for him to use as he sees fit so long as his behavior stays within legal bounds?  Government, specifically the Treasury Department,  (HERE) sees it different. Quote: “Pursuing racial equity is a vital opportunity to drive innovation and boost growth across the U.S. economy.”3

[3] https://home.treasury.gov/system/files/136/American-Rescue-Plan-Centering-Equity-in-Policymaking.pdf  To repeat: “Pursuing racial equity is….” That proves government is involved in “Race Norming” which is behavior based on race which is supposed to be wrong. But… People engage in race based behavior all of the time. Check the marriage statistics. People usually marry within their own race. People are neither crazy or stupid so they act as nature impels them to act. They marry based on race. Government needs to keep out of that.
