Carlo Rovelli is a physicist. He is a theoretical physicist who, unfortunately is far more confused than many people who know clearly what Carlo cannot grasp, that words have meanings but those meanings depend on the context within which the words are used. Fire is what happens when something is burning and is what happens when someone si told they no longer have their job. Rovelli introduced loop quantum gravity. No surprise. He’s a loopy guy. Because he misunderstands a lot and because there are many people similarly enflected, he’s been given awards which increase his confusion.
He used LSD. Wiki states: “Rovelli has credited his use of LSD at this time with sparking his interest in theoretical physics,[10] saying of his experience: “it was an extraordinarily strong experience that touched me also intellectually… Among the strange phenomena was the sense of time stopping. Things were happening in my mind but the clock was not going ahead; the flow of time was not passing any more… And I thought: ‘Well, it’s a chemical that is changing things in my brain. But how do I know that the usual perception is right, and this is wrong? If these two ways of perceiving are so different, what does it mean that one is the correct one?”[11]
Well, yes. There is a correct definition. there are many correct definitions that depend on context and there are many more incorrect definitions and Rovelli under the influence of LSD devised an incorrect one.
