It’s the easiest game ever devised. Throw a ball through a hoop. It would be even easier if the hoop was vertical instead of horizontal which would make it into throwing a ball through a hole. The skill set requires running, throwing and catching. Players aren’t allowed or supposed to run without bouncing the ball as they run along but the limited intellectual abilities of the players cause that rule to be broken. It’s called “travelling”. Just about every player tries to do it or succeeds in doing it thereby slowing down the game for a much needed break from all the running. While running is even easier than basketball, not many people want to watch running people so running never got popular. Running and throwing, i.e., basketball is running with a ball so even the dumbest among us can figure that out enough to want to watch people run, throw and catch. Not much to see here, is there?
