They seem to believe they must be loyal to the Constitution, not to the Commander in Chief but Article 2 of the Constitution reads in revelant part:
Article II, Section 2, Clause 1:
The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States;….
So…. Any American General who says he should be loyal not to the Commander in Chief but to the Constitution doesn’t understand that the Consitution explicity requires generals must obey their Commander which means the president.
