Pilots pay a lot of attention to the weather because the atmosphere is where aircraft fly. It’s far different being in the air during bad weather than being on the ground. Just a bit too much wind can make a routine flight dangerous, perhaps even fatal. The weather forecasting for the general public is far different than the forecast for aviation. Aviation weather is seldom wrong while the general weather on TV is hardly ever correct when the weather is changinh rapidly. Ice on the roads is dangerous. Ice on aircraft can bring a plane down.
