John Galt is the hero of Atlas Shrugged, a masterpiece of a novel written by Ayn Rand in 1957. It took her 1,156 pages to write the story that describes the world when the smartest, richist and most productive people leave the culture at large and move to a small town in the Rocky Mountains called “Galt’s Gulch”. 
Congressman Paul Ryan gave away copies of Atlas Shrugged to promote the American values in the novel.
In effect the novel describes what happens when the principles of Socialism rule the world. The devestation that happens is depicted in detail everywhere from the railroads which are the main transportation system in the 1950’s to the farms where the best farmers abandom their farms and the brightest teachers leave the public, government run school system. Today those systems overtax the people to gather cash which explains the high real estate taxes all over America. The greedy collect and the innocent must pay, suffer and lead lesser lives because the government tax system has been taken over by the greedy. Of course John Galt is a fictional character but Donald Trump is real and he’s been defeated by the greedy tax gatherers and it may happen again. reasonable people hope not but they are hoping against hope. The secind defeat of John Galt didn’t happen in the fictional world of Atlas Shrugged but itmay happen again in the real world of crooked government.
