Being gay or lesbian is not a choice. The cause of gayness or lesbianism is complicated and not easy to explain. There is also a continuim from heterosexual to homosexual which means some males exhibit some feminine characteristics and some females exhibit some male characteristics. None of that is under conscious control although quite a bit of acting and showmanship can be involved as people behave in ways that benefit themselves at any moment. The point is that while everyone believes they are unique and while everyone is unique, there aren’t any two people who are exactly alike. Fingerprints as well as other characteristics show the uniqueness of each person even though all humans possess a set of characteristics which make them human.
