It’s in Northeastern Peru. They speak Spanish with a hardly detectable accent. It’s literally in the Amazon Jungle on the Amazon River close to Brazil. Iquitos is a lovely, quaint town with friendly, welcoming people. Peru is under rated in America. It’s a great destination including the very, very cosmopolitan capitol city, Lima.

Iquitos is the largest city in the world that cannot be reached by road, it is accessible only by river and air.

It is known as the “capital of the Peruvian Amazon”. The city is located in the Great Plains of the Amazon Basin, fed by the Amazon, Nanay, and Itaya rivers.
