… Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou died on May 17  of this year, 2022, at age 79. We are better because he lived and worked making unique music for us. Ευάγγελος Οδυσσέας Παπαθανασίου in the Greek script of his homeland, Vangelis composed an astounding array of new and unique musical sounds and he played and produced most of it by himself without an orchestra. Listen to a series of his Greatest Hits: HERE. He could not read music but he established a musical nomenclature of his own to use while playing although he did most of his playing from memory. It’s a rare thing to witness the greatness of a life when it’s gone however having the music.. having music makes it possible to hear that life over and over. To live a lofe with a musical soul isn’t known to most people however Vangelis did it. He had a musical life. He had music in his soul, as part of his very existence. A musical life made possible because he had access to a piano, .. then to a synthesizer, then to an entire musical studio and he made the earth a better place because he was here. He walked among us. He had a deep love for music, music of a very different type that all of the composers who lived before and with him. Vangelis was unique. We know that because we have ears to listen to his soul. This is a tribute to Vangelis
