Your attitude, views and ideas are often the result of the environment in which you have been living. If you are a Southenor you most likely will be proud of your heritage. If a Northernor you have no time for the South. Ditto for Confederate Monuments …. but wait a minute. Some of the monuments depict a man with a rifle or on a horse. Unless you are told otherwise you wouldn’t know that “Silent Sam” was a Confederate soldier. The solution for that statue is simple. Re-name it “Civil War soldier”. Remember that the Civil War was an actual war so monuments about is must be handled with care. No, … no American supports slavery. No one supports wanton destruction of proerty either although there are doubts that some really want to just estroy property, statues and monuments and the cast about until they can find a reason to hate.
Sp just re-mane “Silent Sam” but what about General Robert E. Lee? A bit more complicated but easy enough to cast a new face and call the statue “Civil War horseman”. The last thing that should be done is to erase info about the Civil War and destroy all Confederate monuments because the future will record both the memorial and it’s destruction by people full of hate.
