I needed the money. Yes, I get less each month than if I had waited until I was older but I collected for many years when I could have collected nothing so I had tons of money to spend that I wouldn’t have gotten until years later. Here I am years later and I’m still collecting way more than I paid in to Social Security. Yes, government collected Social Security money from me since I was 12 years old delivering newspapers and even though I’m getting more than I paid in its not that much more. I’d advise everyone to collect as early as possible so they can use the money to travel and buy stuff that will make their lives much more enjoyable. Plus the monthly amount is going up 3.6% starting in January 2027 so even more money will be coming in.
