In 1956, at age 18 I modified a 1941 61ci “Knucklehead” Spring Fork Harley into a chopper. It had extensive modifications including the best looking completely chromed dual exhaust system that was upswept with two megaphone mufflers with the baffles removed and fishtail end caps on them. A wonderful deep-throated road along with massive actual flames came out of the exhaust pipes as the bike accelerated and decelerated. There was nothing like it on the road then and all these years later there still in nothing that looks as good as the 1941 purple Harley. I traded it in at a local Harley dealer that immediately stripped it and returned it to the old, boring colors and shapes of the original 1941 harley.
