He should not be referred to as a nurse because: First. nurses do not carry guns as part of being a nurse and Pretti was carrying a gun. Second, Pretti was not working for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs because the US Department of Veterans Affairs had nothing to do with the immigration enforcement that was being conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement at that time in Minneapolis and Third, no one had called for a nurse. Fourth, no nurse would approach a law enforcement operation with a gun, especially not one loaded as Pretti did because ICE was obviously not in need of a nurse. Fifth, Pretti was acting out of character for a nurse because nurses don’t go running up to armed groups of individuals unless they have a clear reason to be there so Sixth, Pretti had no reason to be there. Seven, Pretti was acting irrationally. Those are seven strong and correct reasons Pretti should not be referred to as a nurse in the immediate issue.
What should Pretti Be called? An illegal, unwanted, irrational protesting intervenor? That pretty well sums up the reasons for his actions and therefore captures how Pretti should be referred to. He had no business intervening. He was a protestor. We know that simply by observing his behavior and taken special note of his prior protests which included spitting and kicking their vehicle, as though kicking a truck was rational. It wasn’t.
It’s natural to try to present information that would cause the behavior of individuals in a very human attempt to understand why the individual acted as they did in order to try to understand what caused their behavior. It’s part of judging and humans judge. Judgment is necessary for survival. Pretti went against the judgment that he was operating normally. He wasn’t.
