I bought it in Hong Kong in 1976 while waiting for a visa to get into China. I heard that Chinese shopkeepers considered it bad luck if the first customer didn’t buy anything so I went to the same very small watch store every day and tried and tried to negotiate a better price. The Chinese are excellent negotiators so the negotiations went on and on until finally I relented and bought my very first really, really great watch. I seem to remember it cost $235. today, 50 years later it’s worth about $5,000.
