He was almost eight years older than her. Ayn Rand was named Alisha Zinovyevna Rosenbaum when she was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia on February 2, 1905. Frank O’Conner was born in Lorain, Ohio on September 22, 1897. Ayn lived for 77 years and passed away on March 6, 1982 about two and a half years after Frank died.

Frank lived to age 82 and passed away on November 11, 1979.

At age 59 Ayn had a four year sexual affair with Nathaniel Brandon, 25 years younger than her from 1964 to 1968. It just about broke Frank’s heart but he agreed to the affair because Ayn talked him into agreeing.

Here’s a  poem that my wife wrote several decades ago:

Reflecting yesterday on all I’ve learned

These recent revelations to embrace

In books discovered late and pages turned

Of truth spontaneous and unrehearsed.

Much clearer now this lovely world to find

With no regret of letting go the lies

Lighter is the heart, so sure the mind

Shedding all the superstitious ties.

I wish I could have firmly clasped the hand

That penned these principles that I embrace

A genius who so bravely took a stand

Assigning truth and reason to first place.

To her memory my enduring gratitude

But of all the accolades that I might pay

Although to flowery tribute I allude

Stated simply, let me say that A is A!

Thank you Ayn Rand.

Ayn Rand’s novels, “Atlas Shrugged” and “The Fountainhead” have each sold over 10 million copies. Both are fiction invented by Ayn Rand who was both a fiction add true story writer and lecturer who discovered some basic advantages of Capitalism and some of the dangers of Socialism and tried to “tell the world’ about them. Hat tip and hat’s off to Ayn Rand!
