Thinking and acting are controlled by the brain. Autistic individuals have brains that function differently that most brains. Same for individuals who have ADHD. These are not dis-orders but simply different modes, methods or means of brain functioning. Making them seem like problems is the wrong way to respond to individuals with these and other types of brain functions. Some people can concentrate more than others. Super-concentration is neither malfunctional or maladaptive. Some people move their hands when speaking. Others do not move anything except their lips. Autistic individuals sometimes completely ignore others. Fine. Let them alone. Others won’t shut up. Fine. Listen and leave if it’s in your best interest but let them alone if that seems like the proper or best thing to do at the moment. Stupidity is not a social disease nor is it something that can be changed. Some individuals do not have normal functioning brains. Fine. Its up to others to cope with low intelligence. None of this is meant to deny or restrict you from trying to help or change other people but is is meant to help you try to grasp just what is going on in someone else’s brain. Realizing someone is “stupid” is not meant to hurt them or to give approval to calling them stupid to their face or to mistreating them because they do not or cannot respond like most people.

The rules or methods of treating others are far too complicated to state here. Complexity is built into human brains. So are low levels of activity and grasping that any individual brain is simultaneously complex and difficult to understand to someone else is a proper response. Perhaps the person you so desperately want to change is not in need of the change you desire. Individual brains are far more complex than say fingerprints and we know each individual has a uniqueness that is impossible to fully grasp. No one has ever seen a thought yet we know for certain thoughts exist. You will be rewarded with a greater appreciation of the worth of each individual. Yes, there are problem people in the world but what is simply unique should never be mistreated. Good can be rewarded; evil can be punished but sometimes it’s proper to leave people alone.
