Columbus’ first voyage was headed by the largest ship, the Santa Maria which has been esimated to be 62 feet long at the waterline . The speed was therefore a maximum of 10.5 Miles per Hour or 253 miles per day. His first voyage lasted 29 days. On October 12, 1492 he landed on San Salvador and went on to Cuba then to Haiti. On his second voyage he went to Dominica, the Lesser Antilles, the Greater Antilles, Puerto Rico and Jamaica. On a third voyage he made it to Trinidad, Venezuela Tobago and Grenada. He made a fourth voyage to South America where he stopped at Panama, the Cayman Islands. An Italian explorer, Amerigo Vespucci finally got to America from Europe.
