It’s not illegal to receive money from other people. Birthday gifts, Christmas gifts, gifts to show appreciation for friendship are legitimate ways to give and receive money.. It is however illegal to receive money for crimes. Illegal access to government leaders, payments under-the-table, payments for the girls who provide sexual services are illegal.
