Car wax on the handles of a pocketknife makes it smoother and more appealing to touch and use. Regardless of the material, car wax will make it smoother. I just added it to some of the keys on the computer keyboard. Less effort to press the keys because they’re smoother so the sideways and up and sown movement as a finger slides while pressing a key uses less effort. Is it worth it? Waxing a keyboard is a lot of work but over time it will pay dividends because of less effort and more impervious to dust and dirt which makes it easier to keep clean and makes me happy.
