Let’s Not Allow Innocent Citizens to Remain Unprotected Against People Shooting At Them… Let Them COntinue To Have The Right To Shoot Back And Save Lives.

Guns, like knives and even rocks can be used for defense. If no one is permitted to be armed then one person with a gun becomes a danger.

But, on the anniversary of the tragic Parkland shooting president Biden took the opportunity to urge for action to prevent such incidents from happening again, action which would increase the danger of people disarmed in the face of danger. .

He said: “The world has already seen how strong you are, how resilient you are, and how giving you are,. whether it’s organizing nationwide marches, or using your own voices. You’ve helped me take more executive actions to reduce gun violence than any of my predecessors at this point in their presidencies. We’ve reined in ghost guns, cracked down on gun trafficking, increased resources for violence prevention and we stood together as I signed the most significant concept to law in nearly 30 years. But there’s so much more to do. We have to ban assault weapons like the one used in Parkland.”

So called, mis-named, assault weapons are and have been banned for decades. The issue is however at the center of the Second Amendment where, unlike citizens in Totalitarian counturieeees, private individules the government is held in check. First, the idea that an assault weapon is more dangerous than a gun has confused the gun issue.

Second, a machine gun is very, very different than a non-machine gun. A machine gun can continue to fire when the trigger is kept in the rear position. A semi-automatic gun requires the trigger be allowed to return to the starting position and to be pulled again to fire an additional round. Semi-automatic guns are assault weapons but the general use of the word assault weapon trades on the idea that a machine gun is identical to any assoult weapon. Machine guns are far more dangerous than semi-automatic weapons. Third, Guns are used for defense far more often than they are used by criminals for criminally offensive acts. Fourth, the debate ignores the need for anyone to defendthemselves, family menbers and friends. Fifth, a disarmed population is far easier for the govenrment to control than an armed one. The arguments to ban guns cuts both ways but is important to grasp the need for some people to have the capability to defend themselves. Women in particular who are usually smaller and therefore easier to overpower are in even more danger during an assault. Women in particular need the capability to defend themselves from attackers who are bigger than themselves. Lastly, a tyranny exists when the people fear the government because they cannot physically. Freedom exists when the government fears the people. Honor freedom by supporting the Second Amendment. tell president Joe Biden: “Keep your tyrannical impulses under control. Do not diminish our freedom.”
