To live you need to know the Rules of Life. The rules are called “Morality”, the set of rules to guide your choices. The Rules begin with three ideas that are the basis of all knowledge… Existence.. Existence is simply what exists. You need to apprehend Existence.. You are human so you perceive things. To perceive existence means to perceive there is something… What Exists that you Perceive is Reality… The Rules must be based on Reality. There is an alternative on which to base the Rules… The alternative, the false alternative… it must be false because its not based on or in Reality is Fantasy and Fantasy is the basis for the Rules that is the most popular. You can ask “How Did All This Get Here?” That’s the question how did existence get here which ignores Reality. What is here is Reality. reality is not based on or in Fantasy. Everything not based in Realty is Not Reality which is Fantasy… A correct Morality must be based on Reality which is another way to say Morality must be based on Existence. “Man must choose his actions, values and goals,” she summarizes, “by the standard of that which is proper to man that is based on what Man is, which is based on the nature of the entity called Man — in order to achieve, maintain, fulfill and enjoy that ultimate value, that end in itself, which is his own life.”
An individual who eagerly faces reality, who embraces his own rational mind as an absolute, and who makes his own life his highest moral purpose will demand his freedom. He will demand the freedom to think and speak, to earn property and associate and trade, and to pursue his own happiness.
Laissez-faire capitalism, Rand argues, is the system of individual rights. In such a system the government has only one function, albeit a vital one: to protect the rights of each individual by placing the retaliatory use of physical force under objective control.
