John Robert Lewis was an American Black Man born on February 21, 1940. He passed away on July 17, 2020, at age 80 years and 146 days. He was about 5 feet 5 inches tall, not a very imposing height but John achieved everlasting fame on March 7, 1965 for marching across the Edmund Pettus Bridge, now a landmark of the American Black Civil Rights Movement along with Dr. Martin Luther King in Selma, Alabama. It took immense courage to march for Black Civil Rights 55 years ago. Lewis was beaten many times, his head cracked which required a metal plate to be inserted and arrested many. many times for demonstrating in favor of civil rights for American black people.
