He’s become a bit delusional as evidenced by his recent anti-Israel position against the so-called settlements in Israel on land that was the spoils of the wars against Israel.
The West Bank Is about 77 miles by 28 miles, israel is smaller than Delaware; smaller than twice the size of Rhode Island. Israel is about the size of New Jersey. These are very small places so the disputes are over almost inconsequential pieces of land compared to other places around the world.
The recent U.N. vote, 12/23/2016 and the flawed thinking that went into it was simply wrong. In June 1967, the West Bank and East Jerusalem were captured by Israel as a result of the Six-Day War. With the exception of East Jerusalem and the former Israeli-Jordanian no man’s land, the West Bank was not annexed by Israel but came under Israeli military control until 1982. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has defined the West Bank as disputed territory, whose status can only be determined through negotiations. The Ministry says that occupied territories are territories captured in war from an established and recognized sovereign, and because the West Bank wasn’t under the legitimate and recognized sovereignty of any state prior to the Six-Day War, it shouldn’t be considered an occupied territory. In plain words, the West Bank is the property of the state of Israel.
President Obama opposes Israel’s claims to the West Bank and thereby, wrongly in the estimation of Israel supports the claims of the Palestinian Authority over the West Bank. .
