President Obama is right

to refuse to blame Islam or Muslims for the War About Terror because once Islam comes up any religion or all religions are in the crosshairs and that’s a big waste of time for most people. Think about what religion means to any individual. It’s the off-limits belief system that is uniquely armored, protected 100% against criticism. Only Religion has that protection so when Islam is blamed for anything malevolent eventually all Religions will be involved because it requires the Religion of the Accuser to be subject to the same scrutiny. The same thing happens if Catholicism for example is blamed for evil, an example would be the pedophilia of the priests. That was quietly put under wraps as quick as could be but no one blamed the Catholic religion for the pedophilia. But if religion is a force for good, how did the pedophilia come to be hidden for so long? There’s that religious armor protecting Catholicism because it’s a religion.

It’s false that Religion itself is above all human sin. There is no such thing in existence called Supernatural Law so there cannot be any such thing as Supernatural Immunity for Religion.
Note that every religion has attacked, killed and murdered, even the so-called peaceful religions. The now apparently settled war in Sri Lanka was between two different allegedly peaceful religions.

According to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Program “Hate Crime Statistics”, 20% of hate crimes were motivated by a religious bias. See the problem? If one in five hate crimes is motivated by Religion there’s no way to argue Religion is only a force for good.

A group of world religious leaders from the Buddhist, Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox Christian, Jewish, Muslim and many other faiths met in Geneva Switzerland during October of 1999. They issued “The Geneva Spiritual Appeal”, asking political and religious leaders and organizations to ensure that religions are not used to justify violence in the future. Delegates believed that many of the then-current 56 conflicts had religious elements. Many of the 56 are still active today, 15 years later.

It is important to realize that most of the world’s current “hot spots” involve a complex interaction of economic, racial, ethnic, religious, and other factors. The Religious Leaders in Geneva listed some conflicts which have as their base at least some degree of religious intolerance. That means religion is not always a force for good. It also means the opponents religion is judged as absolutely evil by the opposing side.

Since the time of Epicurus the basis of all religions, the nature of God itself has been questioned; tested; and found undeserving of the blanket judgment of being all good. Many cultures have been and continue to be tortured and have tortured in the name of God.

If pedophile Priests are religiously motivated, that is their belief’s direct them away from their own sexuality how is it possible to argue Catholicism as a religion is only a force for good? It either unwittedly or unknowingly directed the priests away from one condition without knowing the consequences of the prohibition.

Religion is uniquely armored against criticism. So trying to convince a priest or a Catholic that it’s Catholicism itself that’s to blame for pedophilia in priests is a waste of time; a waste of reasoning and it annoys the Priest.

It’s more productive to call the priests pedophiles, not priests which shifts the argument away from the priest and thereby away from religion. It has the effect of saving time with the advantage that it’s true even though the misdirection is a form of lying.
