President Obama seems to have three race issues.
1. He’s not black enough
2. He’s 50% white
3. Black / White Race relations in general.
The Paris Demonstrations were self-evidently non-racial. Many black leaders were in the front row of the demonstrators but Obama wasn’t there.
France doesn’t have the same race problems that exist in America but the Paris Demonstrations and Europe itself are seen as white nations and cultures. It’s clear President Obama purposely decided not to attend. Why?
Why did the country that’s been the biggest force against Terrorists since the 9/11 sneak attacks murdered 2,900 innocent Americans on American soil not have a presence in Paris?
The President decided not to attend. The Vice President decided not to attend. America was embarrassed by a lack of presence in Paris.
Paris is one of, if not the most beautiful city in the world. The Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre, Montmartre, -are reasons enough to visit “The City Of Light” but the demonstrations which are now estimated to have been attended by over 3 million people were the single reason to be in Paris on January 11th, 2015. Obama wasn’t there. Why?
He can’t stand competition. He can’t stand not being the center of attention. He’s uncomfortable among the great leaders of Europe and the world, 40 of whom showed up in Paris. He has to be the only man in the spotlight. He doesn’t share power. He’s not a team player, at least not as president.
Oh, wait. He attended the funeral of Nelson Mandela. Remember? Sure you do. He took a selfies with the blonde Prime Minster of Denmark , Helle Thorning-Schmidt while Michelle glared and finally put a stop to it.
Helle was in Paris. Maybe Michelle didn’t want Barack in Paris without her. Fine. The world leaders would have accepted Michelle and Barack in the front row of the demonstrators but that might have thrown Barack alongside Helle again.
Regardless of the calculations, the President is seen as the black President. That’s fine. It’s mostly his call as far as how he considers himself and no one has any problem with that. His race, his bi-raciality is often considered one of his better attributes so it’s difficult to make the case that the President didn’t go to Paris because of race but there are the pesky references to him saying: “Trayvon could have been my son.” Or the beer summit where he reached out to Professor Gates. Or his belief’s about the death’s of Eric Garner and Michael Brown because of their race. .
