Garner was selling cigarettes one at a time. For some reason that’s not allowed in New York State. He was trying to reason with a police officer when he was put in a chokehold , wrestled to the ground, sat on and had a heart attack. He died.

What or who killed Eric Garner? A grand jury found Garner died of a heart attack caused by “compression of neck (choke hold), compression of chest and prone positioning during physical restraint by police,” said Julie Bolcer, a spokeswoman for the medical examiner’s office. The death was ruled a homicide.

Acute and chronic bronchial asthma, obesity and hypertensive cardiovascular disease were listed as contributing conditions.

All that is irrelevant. Garner was selling cigarettes one at a time. He was repeatedly targeted by police for selling cigarettes one at a time. What’s wrong with that? Why is that a crime? Why are police paid to arrest people like Garner for selling cigarettes one at a time? That’s bad law. All of the legislators and the governor who approved that law have the death of Eric Garner on their hands. How tragic and wrong. That law and those people should be censured. The law should be repealed.
