The Klu Klux Klan was a gang of white men who hung black people. The movement died out around 1877.   The Klan should have been vigorously prosecuted but to the everlasting disgrace of law enforcement they weren’t. Ferguson, Missouri shows how easy a mob can break the law, steal, loot and destroy property and get away with breaking the laws like happened in the LA riots and has happened in Ferguson. Eric Holder showed how the law and law enforcement is subverted by a biased official. Ironically that’s the issue with the rioters in Ferguson so Holder has become one of the lawbreakers by supporting them and their causes and calling for race-based justice, which is injustice and why Holder needs to resign. The President is also racially biased and the trial of Police Officer Darren Wilson has a small chance of being un-biased with Obama and Holder in charge. This isn’t how the rule of law is supposed to work.

Consider this example of why the law must be defended. The following colloquy about breaking the law to get the devil is from the movie “Man For All Seasons”.

SIR THOMAS MORE:  What would you do? Cut a great road through the law to get after the Devil?

ROPER: I’d cut down every law in England to do that!

MORE: Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned ’round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country is planted thick with laws, from coast to coast, Man’s laws, not God’s! And if you cut them down, and you’re just the man to do it, do you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I’d give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety’s sake! ____________________________________________

And so it is that the law itself must be protected. That includes especially the police who are the visible law otherwise the people of Ferguson will not be safe.

The black people of Ferguson are showing their disrespect for the law, for the courts and the police. Their actions are not subtle nor nuanced and their grievances must be addressed but that won’t happen in the streets.

The people of Ferguson must be respected but they must get themselves under control before their grievances can be investigated but first the police officer and his family must be gotten out of Ferguson because they are in physical danger from the out-of-control mob.

The police exist to protect the people and in the case of Ferguson the people must protect the law and officer Wilson. Otherwise the devil will turn round on the people of Ferguson and they won’t have the law to protect them.
