How many races are there is say China? One.
How about India? One.
How about Sweden? Germany? South Africa?
How many races are in America? In the world?
There are 4 major races, white/Caucasian, Mongoloid/Asian, Negroid/Black, and Australoid. This is based on a racial classification made by Carleton S. Coon in 1962.
The United Nations, in a 1950 statement, opted to “drop the term ‘race’ altogether and speak of “ethnic groups”. In this case, there are more than 5,000 ethnic groups in the world, according to a 1998 study published in the Scientific American.
How many different ethnic groups are there in America? More than any other nation or culture.
America is an exception to all other countries and cultures. America assimilates races, cultures, ethnic groups, and genders.
America certainly is well represented by the four major races. America is also well represented by more of the 5,000 ethnic groups.
Even better, America welcomes all this diversity. It’s easy to say America is the most racist culture in history.
In America, race is actually a good thing. Everybody is a member of some race, perhaps more than one because in America mixed race couples, like the parents of President Obama, don’t encounter the prejudice and bigotry they would in some other cultures. Americans have pride in their race. Everyone expects that . No one is surprised when a mixed race man like Tiger Woods refers to his ethnic make-up as “Cablinasian” (a portmanteau he coined from Caucasian, Black, (American) Indian, and Asian).”
